The cold weather and wind let up on March 1 as scores of families ventured to Black Mountain for WinterFest Weekend. Among the activities, besides skiing and snowboarding, were a snow fort to play and slide on, a scenic lift ride, sleigh rides and the Never Ever World Cup Race, with fireworks in the evening.
