With much uncertainty ahead of him, Brian Hutchinson, 28, is trying to turn his difficult life around and push away the desperation that’s been plaguing him for years.
Boldly addressing 40 people at a community forum held last Thursday in Rumford Falls Auditorium, he said, “I’ve been sober for two weeks now. It’s 15 days today. I feel great. I take it one day at a time. I’m sober for today. I had a drug test today. My pre-trial lady, I told her I smoked pot on the eleventh, the day I got arrested. I ended up passing it. I didn’t have any chemicals in my system whatsoever.”
Pastor Justin Thacker of the Praise Assembly of God Church in Rumford spearheaded the two-hour forum with the purpose of informing the community of “the dangers of unhealthy living and the consequences it may cause to a community and to bring awareness to our citizens of the different agencies in the River Valley that may be able to help while bringing much needed hope to a person and/or family who is struggling.”
