Give a little Christmas

As they’ve done for the last five years, members of the Rumford Performing Arts Committee got together last week to wrap donated gifts to be distributed to children at the Festival of Trees on Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Rumford Falls Auditorium.
The group was pleased by the donations to date. Mitzi Sequoia said there are enough gifts to better last year’s 150 that were given out.
Among those donated to date were Richard Hutchins, G. Dennis Provencher, Sandy Barrieau (TY Bears), Joyce Saisi (mittens, coats and shirts), and members Kim and Mitzi Sequoia (baby socks).
Jim Rinaldo said there will be a donation jar at the function or people can call him at 418-9067.
Rinaldo said nine of the 17 spots for lighted Christmas trees at the events have been taken. Applications for those who would like to sponsor a tree are available to be picked up at the town hall. For questions, call Rinaldo at 418-9067.
The trees were being put up on Monday in the auditorium.
The doors for the event will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 6:30. Come meet Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and Frosty the Snowman.
Performing will be RAAPA, Thea Dunn and the Prop Box Singers, Andy St Pierre, Melanie Jordan, Tammy (Ta Dah ) Burgess, Eric Schmercial, Elaine Michaud, Michaela Beauchesne, Lydia Bennett, Ainsley Brown, Joe Bryant, Jillian Conant, Elissa Detellis, Gina Kubesh, Abby Labrash, Madison Papianou, Sophie List and Caroline Masters-Siekman. The group will perform a Christmas medley, and Elissa Detellis will perform the solo, I’ll Be Home for Christmas.
There will be a special performance by Jillian Conant, who will be playing a Christmas song on her violin. She is a student of Thea Dunn’s.
Santa will be there and there will be a small gift for every child.
The show is free for one and all. There will also be free refreshments, including coffee, water and homemade cookies.
