MEXICO — The buzz is starting in the community around an effort to check on the well-being of their housebound residents.
Called Project Senior Watch, this is a collaborative effort between the Mexico Police Department and the Mexico Police Explorers. Pamphlets for the program are available at the town office, police department and different groups that deal with senior citizens. All interested senior citizens in town will be placed on a list that allows police officers to check on their safety and well-being via phone calls and periodic visits.
The program will kick off with a public informational meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 at the police station on Parker Street. Prior to the meeting, officers will visit Grand View Apartments to see if any individuals want to sign up for the program.
